What started as a family joke turned into a life-long nickname. There is no doubt "Soup" is easier to spell than "Voivedich". In the fall of 2000, as Jamie was founding her pottery studio, it was obvious which name would stick, and Soup Studios was born. Jamie's educational background is as eclectic as her work. She studied Interior Design at the Auburn University School of Architecture (BID), and Ceramics at the University of Georgia (BFA) and Temple University (MFA). Though clay is her primary medium, architecture still informs the way she visualizes and builds her work. Her creative process involves a great amount of detail and precision, and is always concerned with structure, a sensibility developed by her study of architecture and interior design. Both pottery and architecture strive to be structurally sound, yet aesthetically pleasing in the way they shape space. You will find these shared principles in Jamie's approach to her work.
